In 2022, there are an estimated 2.3 million Rwandan patients with chronic diseases with approximately 1,000 licensed chronic diseases doctors and this leads to 2300 patients per doctor.
As the healthcare sector continues to grow, there is a need for an efficient and secure medical data management system to streamline patient information across hospitals. The project aims to develop a safe medical data management system that allows every patient to have a personal profile where his/her medical history, diagnosis, consultations, laboratory test results, and medication information can be stored and accessible everywhere and every time.
The Problem:
The mortality rate of Rwandan citizens with chronic diseases 2021 was 112.5 deaths per 1,000 people. This is higher than the global average of 72.3 deaths per 1,000 people. Rwanda's leading causes of death are cardiovascular diseases, cancers, and respiratory diseases.
